Review: Slap ‘N’ Tickle Short Film Program for Exclaim!

John Martin closes up shop…

I have nothing left in the tank to write another intro. All I can say is I watched some short films for this CFC Short Film Festival coming up on Bloor Street, wrote a review of the program, called Slap ‘N’ Tickle, and now it’s up on Exclaim!. Oh yeah, and I don’t recognize the first sentence of the review as mine, so I’m not going to bother reading the rest. It would probably just break the wave I’ve been riding for the past couple of days, and then rub off on everyone else. I like to wake up in the morning feeling good about myself… so to put the nail in the coffin on this review I’m merely going to quote some Eminem, making a small substitution (of course) for effect: “[Editors], man, one thing I notice about [editors], man, is [editors] never ask me how my day went.”

That quote is from “On Fire”, and once I get to be 39, I too am going to make a piece of art equivalent to Recovery. Except I won’t condemn those individuals and organizations and governments who made me unhappy all my life. I will forgive them and move on. I will spread empathy.

Peace and blessings… he he I knew all along I’d be fine running on fumes. This just proves it.

Read the full review here, and don’t think I’m hypocritical because it appears as though I’m taking a shot at editors. I’m not. I’m merely making an observation… that they never ask me how my day went. Don’t be touchy ;)
